Furthermore, our air conditioning systems are compatible with a wide range (different styles and capacities) of indoor units. Explore which system works for you.

What is an air conditioner?

An air conditioner cools a room by drawing in warm air, cooling it with refrigerant gas, and blowing cool air back out. It can also warm, dehumidify by removing moisture, and purify with filters.

How does an air conditioner work?

An air conditioner works by extracting heat from the indoors and releasing it outside. This is done via a refrigerant inside the air conditioning system and works in 3 steps:

Step 1:

The refrigerant inside the system evaporates (turns to gas) and in doing so absorbs heat from the inside air.

Step 2:

Via a compressor the evaporated refrigerant is pushed through the air conditioning system to again become a liquid. Whilst the refrigerant turns back into a liquid, warm air is expelled via the outdoor unit.

Step 3:

Whilst the evaporated refrigerant is flowing through the air conditioning system, cooled air is circulated back into the room, providing a cooling effect to create a comfortable temperature indoors.

How to choose the right air conditioning system?

Single split:

Single split air conditioning systems connect one outdoor unit to one indoor unit. This systems are perfect for controlling the climate of one room in your home, such as a bedroom or living room.

Multi split:

Multi split air conditioning systems connect one outdoor unit to multiple indoor units (up to five), allowing you to control the climates of various rooms independently from each other. These systems are ideal for multi-story residences where outdoor space might be limited. They're a good choice if you want to control the temperature of multiple rooms or areas of your home.

Finding the right air conditioner installer

When you buy an air conditioner, you’re only halfway done. The next step is to find an air conditioner installer to have your unit fitted inside your home. Choosing an air conditioner installer is just as important as the air con unit you buy.

Why your air conditioner installer must be licensed

If your air conditioner isn’t installed correctly, you may void its warranty and it may not function correctly. To make sure this doesn’t happen, choose an air conditioner installer that’s experienced and fully licensed. Air conditioner installers are legally required to have an ARC refrigerant license to handle the refrigerants inside your air con when installing it.

The cost of air conditioner installation

The cost of your air conditioner installation will vary according to a number of factors:

1) Type of unit you’re getting installed: single-split systems are usually cheaper than multi-split systems or inverter-ducted systems.

2) Number of air conditioners you’re getting installed.

3) What’s required for installation. If the air conditioner installer needs to use more piping or upgrade your electrical system, the installation may cost more.

4) The cost of your air conditioner installation will be affected by where you choose to install the unit. Your installer will be able to advise you on the best position for your unit, but generally, it’s best to choose somewhere that’s close to where an outdoor unit may be installed, and high on a wall in a position where it can blow air across the entire room.
